NATIONAL FOREWORD

This Indian Standard (Part 6) (First Revision) which is identical with IEC 80000-6 : 2022 ‘Quantities and units — Part 6: Electromagnetism’ issued by the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) was adopted by the Bureau of Indian Standards on the recommendation of the Basic Standards Sectional Committee and approval of the Production and General Engineering Division Council.

This standard was first published as IS 1890 (Part 5) : 1983 ‘Quantities and units: Part 5 Electricity and Magnetism’ and was subsequently revised in 1995. IS 1890 (Part 5) : 1995 was superseded by IS/IEC 80000-6 : 2008. The first revision of this standard has been undertaken to align it with the latest version of ISO/IEC 80000-6.
