IS/ISO 10079-3 : 2014 Medical Suction Equipment Part 3 Suction Equipment Powered from a Vacuum or Positive Pressure Gas Source
NATIONAL FOREWORD
This Indian Standard (Part 3) (First Revision) which is identical with ISO 10079-3 : 2014 ‘Medical suction equipment — Part 3: Suction equipment powered from a vacuum or positive pressure gas source’ issued by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) was adopted by the Bureau of Indian Standards on the recommendation of the Anaesthetic, Resuscitation and Allied Equipment Sectional Committee and approval of the Medical Equipment and Hospital Planning Division Council.
This standard was first published in 2013 by adopting ISO 10079-3 : 1999 ‘Medical suction equipment — Part 3: Suction equipment powered from a vacuum or pressure source’. This first revision has been taken up to align it with the latest edition of ISO 10079-3 : 2014.
This standard specifies safety and performance requirements for medical suction equipment powered from a vacuum or positive pressure gas source generating venturi suction. It applies to equipment connected to medical gas pipeline systems or cylinders and venturi attachments. The equipment can be stand-alone or part of an integrated system.
This standard has been published in three parts. The other two parts are:
Part 1 Electrically powered suction equipment
Part 2 Manually powered suction equipment
The text of ISO Standard has been approved as suitable for publication as an Indian Standard without deviations. Certain conventions are however not identical to those used in Indian Standards. Attention is particularly drawn to the following:
a) Wherever the words ‘International Standard’ appear referring to this standard, they should be read as ‘Indian Standard’.
b) Comma (,) has been used as a decimal marker while in Indian Standards, the current practice is to use a point (.) as the decimal marker.
