NATIONAL FOREWORD

This Indian Standard (First Revision) which is identical with ISO 11145 : 2018 ‘Optics and photonics - Lasers and laser-related equipment - Vocabulary and symbols’, issued by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) was adopted by the Bureau of Indian Standards on the recommendation of the Optical and Photonics Sectional Committee and approval of the Production and General Engineering Division Council.

Lasers are being increasingly used in the field of medical, defence, and other engineering applications. This standard is intended to provide a uniform interpretation and usage of various technical terms and symbols associated with lasers and laser - related equipment.
