NATIONAL FOREWORD

This Indian Standard (First Revision) which is identical to ISO 13528 : 2022 'Statistical methods for use in proficiency testing by interlaboratory comparison' issued by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) was adopted by the Bureau of Indian Standards on recommendation of the Statistical Methods for Quality, Data Analytics and Reliability Sectional Committee and approval of the Management and Systems Division Council.

This standard was first published in 2015. This revision has been undertaken to align it with latest version of ISO 13528.

The main changes compared to the previous edition are as follows:

 a) notes have been added to 10.1, 10.4.3 and 10.5.3 to draw attention to additional graphical techniques that can assist in meeting the provisions of 10.1;

 b) Formulae B.4 and B.8 have been corrected to use st 2 instead of wt 2;

 c) Formula B.16 has been corrected so that the term inside the square root is always non-negative;

 d) in Table C.2, the correction factor associated with p = 2 has been corrected to read 0,3994;

 e) additional literature references to the source of values in Table C.2 have been added to the Bibliography and referenced from Notes 1 and 2 of C.5.2.1;

 f) font styles (Italic or Roman) have been amended throughout for consistency in formulae.

The text of the International Standard has been approved as suitable for publication as an Indian Standard without deviations. Certain conventions are, however, not identical to those used in Indian Standards. Attention is particularly drawn to the following:

 a) Wherever the words 'International Standard' appear referring to this standard, they should be read as 'Indian Standard'; and

 b) Comma (,) has been used as a decimal marker while in Indian Standards, the current practice is to use a point (.) as the decimal marker.
