NATIONAL FOREWORD

The Indian Standard (First Revision) which is identical with ISO 14024 : 2018 'Environmental labels and declarations - Type I environmental labelling - Principles and Procedures' issued by the International Organization for Standardization was adopted by the Bureau of Indian Standards on the recommendation of the Environmental Management Sectional Committee and approval of the Chemical Division Council.

This document establishes the principles and procedures for developing Type I environmental labelling programmes, including the selection of product categories, product environmental criteria, and product function characteristics, and for assessing and demonstrating compliance. This document also establishes the certification procedures for awarding the label.
