NATIONAL FOREWORD

This Indian Standard which is identical with ISO 16039:2004 ‘Road Construction and Maintenance - slipform pavers - Definitions and Commercial Specification’ issued by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) was adopted by the Bureau of Indian Standards on the recommendation of the Construction Plant and Machinery Sectional Committee, MED 18 and approval of the Mechanical Engineering Division Council.

This Indian Standard deals with slipform paves for placing, compactions, forming and finishing cement concrete in roadways, street, airport construction and the other structures of related design. This Indian Standard provides definition of equipment and technical characteristics of machinery as well. Enclosed figures explain performance of slipform pavers and their components.

In the adopted standard certain terminology and conventions are not identical with those used in Indian Standards; attention is drawn specially to the following:

a) Wherever the words ‘International Standard’ appear referring to this standard, they should beread as ‘Indian Standard’.

b) Comma (,) has been used as a decimal marker while in Indian Standards the current practice is to use a point (.) as the decimal marker.
