Revised Standard from Last Update.
NATIONAL FOREWORD
The Indian Standard (Second Revision) which is identical with ISO 16929 : 2019 ‘Plastics - Determination of the degree of disintegration of plastic materials under defined composting conditions in a pilot-scale test’ issued by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) was adopted by the Bureau of Indian Standards on recommendation of the Methods of Sampling and Test for Plastics Sectional Committee and approval of the Petroleum, Coal and Related Products Division Council.
This standard was originally published in 2009 and subsequently revised in 2018. First revision was identical with ISO 16929 : 2013. The second revision of this standard has been undertaken to align it with the latest version of ISO 16929 : 2019.
The major changes in this revision are as follows:
a) In 6.1.1, the minimum amount of biowaste has been changed to 30 kg from 60 kg due to the decreasing size of composting bins; and
b) In 6.2.2.3 and 8, the temperature profile has been changed to new conditions adopted to small bins.
