NATIONAL FOREWORD
This Indian Standard (Part 2) which is identical with ISO 1984-2 : 2001 ‘Test conditions for manually controlled milling machines with table of fixed height - Testing of the accuracy - Part 2: Machines with vertical spindle’ issued by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) was adopted by the Bureau of Indian Standards on the recommendation of the Machine Tools, Machine Tool Elements and Holding Devices Sectional Committee and approval of the Production and General Engineering Division Council.
IS 13640 : 1993 ‘General introduction for milling machines with table of fixed height, with horizontal or vertical spindle’ published in dual numbering by adopting ISO 1984-0 : 1984 shall be withdrawn after publication of this standard, since ISO has revised the standard in two parts.
The text of ISO Standard has been approved as suitable for publication as an Indian Standard without deviations. Certain conventions are however not identical to those used in Indian Standards. Attention is particularly drawn to the following:
a) Wherever the words ‘International Standard’ appear referring to this standard, they should be read as ‘Indian Standard’.
b) Comma (,) has been used as a decimal marker while in Indian Standards, the current practice is to use a point (.) as the decimal marker.
