This Indian Standard (Part 2) (First Revision) which is an identical adoption of ISO 20776-2 : 2021 'Clinical laboratory testing and in vitro diagnostic test systems - Susceptibility testing of infectious agents and evaluation of performance of antimicrobial susceptibility test devices - Part 2: Evaluation of performance of antimicrobial susceptibility test devices against reference broth micro-dilution' issued by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) was adopted by the Bureau of Indian Standards on the recommendation of the Hospital Planning Sectional Committee and approval of the Medical Equipment and Hospital Planning Division Council.

This standard was first published in 2007 which was based on ISO 20776-2 : 2007 'Clinical laboratory testing and in vitro diagnostic test systems Susceptibility testing of infectious agents and evaluation of performance of antimicrobial susceptibility test devices - Part 2: Evaluation of performance of antimicrobial susceptibility test devices'. The first revision has been undertaken to align it with its latest version ISO 20776-2 : 2021.

The text of the ISO standard has been approved as suitable for publication as an Indian Standard without deviations. Certain conventions are however not identical to those used in Indian Standards. Attention is particularly drawn to the following:

a) Wherever the words 'International Standard' appears referring to this standard, they should be read as 'Indian Standard'; and

b) Comma (,) has been used as a decimal marker while in Indian Standard, the current practice is to use a point (.) as the decimal marker.
