NATIONAL FOREWORD

This Indian Standard which is identical with ISO 4709 : 2017 ‘Composition cork - Gasket material - Classification system, requirements, sampling, packaging and marking’ issued by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) was adopted by the Bureau of Indian Standards on the recommendation of Gaskets and Packing Sectional Committee and approval of Mechanical Engineering Division Council.

This standard supersedes IS 14538 (Part 1) : 1998 ‘Gaskets and packings: Part 1 Composition cork - Specification’.
