IS/ISO 50003 : 2014 Energy Management Systems - Requirements for Bodies Providing Audit and Certification of Energy Management Systems

This Indian Standard which is identical with ISO 50003 : 2014 ‘Energy management systems — requirements for bodies providing audit and certification of energy management systems’ issued by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) was adopted by the Bureau of Indian Standards on the recommendation of the Energy Management Sectional Committee and approval of the Mechanical Engineering Division Council.

This standard specifies requirements for competence, consistency and impartiality in the auditing and certification of energy management systems (EnMS) for bodies providing these services. In order to ensure the effectiveness of EnMS auditing, this standard addresses the auditing process, competence requirements for personnel involved in the certification process for energy management systems, the duration of audits and multi-site sampling.

This standard is intended to be used in conjunction with IS/ISO/IEC 17021. The requirements of IS/ISO/IEC 17021 also apply to this standard.

The text of ISO Standard has been approved as suitable for publication as an Indian Standard without deviations. Certain conventions are, however, not identical to those used in Indian Standards. Attention is particularly drawn to the following:

a) Wherever the words ‘International Standard’ appear referring to this standard, they should be read s ‘Indian Standard’.

b) Comma (,) has been used as a decimal marker while in Indian Standards, the current practice is to use a point (.) as the decimal marker.
