NATIONAL FOREWORD

This Indian Standard (Part 3) which is identical with ISO 603-3 : 1999 ‘Bonded abrasive products — Dimensions — Part 3: Grinding wheels for internal cylindrical grinding’ issued by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) was adopted by the Bureau of Indian Standards on the recommendation of the Abrasives Sectional Committee and approval of the Production and General Engineering Division Council.

This standard was originally published as IS 9291 : 1979 ‘Dimension of internal grinding wheels’ based on ISO 1117 : 1975 ‘Bonded abrasive products — Grinding-wheel dimensions’. The Committee has now decided to adopt this standard in a single number as IS/ISO 603-3 : 1999 to make pace with the latest developments that have taken place at international level. This standard supersedes IS 9291 : 1979 and after the publication of this standard IS 9291 : 1979 shall be treated as withdrawn.

The text of ISO Standard has been approved as suitable for publication as an Indian Standard without deviations. Certain terminology and conventions are, however, not identical to those used in Indian Standards. Attention is particularly drawn to the following:

a) Wherever the words ‘International Standard’ appear, referring to this standard, they should be read as ‘Indian Standard’.

b) Comma (,) has been used as a decimal marker, while in Indian Standards, the current practice is to use a point (.) as the decimal marker.
