NATIONAL FOREWORD
This Indian Standard (Part 3) which is identical with ISO 7240-3 : 2010 ‘Fire detection and alarm systems — Part 3: Audible alarm devices’ issued by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) was adopted by the Bureau of Indian Standards on the recommendation of the Fire Fighting Sectional Committee and approval of the Civil Engineering Division Council.

In a fire detection and alarm system, the purpose of the audible alarm devices is to warn person(s) within, or in the vicinity of, a building of the occurrence of a fire emergency situation in order to enable such a person(s) to take appropriate measures.
