IS/ISO 7492 : 1997 DENTAL EXPLORERS

NATIONAL FOREWORD
This Indian Standard which is identical with ISO 7492: 1997 Dental explorers issued by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) was adopted by the Bureau of Indian. Standa.rds on the recommendation of the Dentistry Sectional Committee and approval of the Medical Equipment and Hospital Planning Division Council
This standard was first published as IS 4716 in 1968 and then revised in 1993. This standard has been brought out to align it with the international practices. In this standard, following important modifications have been made:
a) Material clause has been modified.
b) Method for the measurement of Vickers hardness, tensile strength and torque test has been added.
c) Resistance clause against corrosion and thermal exposure has been added.
d) Requirement of autoclaving test has been modified. After the publication of this standard, IS 4716 : 1993 shall be treated as withdrawn.
The text of ISO Standard has been approved as suitable for publication as an Indian Standard without deviations. Certain conventions are, however, not identical to those used in Indian Standards. Attention is particularly drawn to the following:
a) Wherever the words International Standard appear referring to this standard, they should be read as Indian Standard.
b) Comma (,) has been used as a decimal marker while in Indian Standards, the current practice is to use a point (.) as the decimal marker.
