Data is created as the result of a process, typically an observation, a measurement or a transformation. While the accuracy of the process will determine the accuracy of the data in terms of its proximity to the true value, the accuracy of the transfer of the data from one system to another can also affect data accuracy. The accuracy of a transfer of data can be measured by comparison to authoritative data source. This part of IS/ISO 8000 is an optional addition to IS/ISO 8000-120 and specifies requirements for representation and exchange of information about accuracy of master data that consists of characteristic data. IS/ISO 8000-120 is an optional addition to IS/ISO 8000-110 and specifies requirements for representation and exchange of information about provenance of master data that consists of characteristic data. IS/ISO 8000-110 specifies basic requirements for representation and exchange of information about provenance of master data that consists of characteristic data, in particular, conformance to a formal syntax, semantic encoding, and conformance to a data specification.
The text of ISO standard has been approved as suitable for publication as an Indian Standard without deviations. Certain conventions are, however, not identical to those used in Indian Standards. Attention is particularly drawn to the following:
a) Wherever the words 'International Standard' appear referring to this standard, they should be read as 'Indian Standard'; and
b) Comma (,) has been used as a decimal marker while in Indian Standards, the current practice is to use a point (.) as the decimal marker.
