NATIONAL FOREWORD

This Indian Standard (Part 9) (First Revision) which is identical with ISO 8178-9 : 2019 ‘Reciprocating internal combustion engine - Exhaust emission measurement - Part 9: Test cycles and test procedures for measurement of exhaust gas smoke emissions from compression ignition engines using an opacimeter’, issued by International Organization for Standardization (ISO), was adopted by the Bureau of Indian Standards on recommendation of the Automotive Prime Movers Transmission Systems and Internal Combustion Engines Sectional Committee and approval of the Transport Engineering Division Council.
