NATIONAL FOREWORD

This Indian Standard (Part 3) (First Revision) which is identical to ISO 8980-3 : 2022 'Ophthalmic optics - Uncut finished spectacle lenses - Part 3: Transmittance specifications and test methods' issued by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) was adopted by Bureau of Indian Standards on the recommendation of the Ophthalmic Instruments and Appliances Sectional Committee and approval of the Medical Equipment and Hospital Planning Division Council.

This standard was first published in 2018 as IS/ISO 8980-3 : 2013 'Ophthalmic optics - Uncut finished spectacle lenses - Part 3: Transmittance specifications and test methods'. The first revision has been undertaken to align it with latest edition of ISO 8980-3.

This Indian Standard is published in five parts. The other parts in this series are:

Part 1 Specifications for single-vision and multifocal lenses

Part 2 Specifications for power-variation lenses

Part 4 Specifications and test methods for anti-reflective coatings

Part 5 Minimum requirements for spectacle lens surfaces claimed to be abrasion-resistant

The text of ISO standard has been approved as suitable for publication as an Indian Standard without deviations. Certain conventions are however not identical to those used in Indian Standards. Attention is particularly drawn to the following:

a) Wherever the words 'International Standard' appear referring to this standard, they should be read as 'Indian Standard'; and

b) Comma (,) has been used as a decimal marker while in Indian Standards, the current practice is to use a point (.) as the decimal marker.
