This Indian Standard (Seventh Revision) which is identical with ISO 9004 : 2018 ‘Quality management — Quality of an organization — Guidance to achieve sustained success’ issued by International Organization for Standardization (ISO) was adopted by the Bureau of Indian Standards on recommendation of the Quality Management Sectional Committee and approval of the Management and Systems Division Council.

The major changes in this revision are as follows:

a) Alignment with the concepts and terminology of ISO 9000 : 2015 and ISO 9001 : 2015;

b) Focus on the concept of “quality of an organization”; and

c) Focus on the concept of “identity of an organization”.

The text of ISO Standard has been approved as suitable for publication as an Indian Standard without deviations. Certain terminologies and conventions are, however, not identical to those used in Indian Standards. Attention is particularly drawn to the following:

a) Wherever the words ‘International Standard’ appear referring to this standard, they should be read as `Indian Standard’.

b) Comma has been used as a decimal marker, while in Indian Standards, the current practice is to use a point (.) as the decimal marker.
