NATIONAL FOREWORD
This Indian Standard (Part 1) which is identical with ISO 9336-1 : 2010 ‘Optics and photonics - Optical transfer function - Application - Part 1: Interchangeable lenses for 35 mm still cameras’ issued by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) was adopted by the Bureau of Indian Standards on the recommendation of the Photography and Cinematography Equipment Sectional Committee and approval of the Mechanical Engineering Division Council. This standard was earlier published as IS 15048 : 2001 ‘Interchangeable lenses for 35 mm still cameras - Specification’, which was based on ISO 9336-1 : 1994 ‘Optics and optical instruments - Optical transfer function - Application - Part 1 Interchangeable lenses for 35 mm still cameras’ under dual numbering system. The committee has now decided adopt this standard in a single number series as IS/ISO to make pace with the latest international practices and ot align it with latest version of ISO 9336-1 : 2010.
This standard, therefore supersedes IS 15048 : 2001. After the publication of this standard IS 15048 : 2001 shall be treated as withdrawn.
The text of ISO Standard has been approved as suitable for publication as an Indian Standard without deviations. Certain conventions are, however, not identical to those used in Indian Standards. Attention is particularly drawn to the following:
a) Wherever the words ‘International Standard’ appear referring to this standard, they should be read as ‘Indian Standard’.
b) Comma (,) has been used as a decimal marker while in Indian Standards, the current practice is to use a point (.) as the decimal marker.
