This Indian Standard (Part 2) (First Revision) which is identical with ISO 9917-2 : 2017 ‘Dentistry - Water-based cement - Part 2: Resin-modified cements’ issued by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) was adopted by the Bureau of Indian Standards on recommendation of the Dentistry Sectional Committee and approval of the Medical Equipment and Hospital Planning Division Council.
This standard was originally published in 2008 and was identical with ISO 9917-2 : 1998. The first revision of this standard has been undertaken to align it with the latest version of ISO 9917-2 : 2017.
This part of Draft Indian Standard has been prepared in order to present the requirements and test method for cements in which setting is achieved by a combination of an acid-base reaction and polymerization. The polymerization component of the reaction may be activated by mixing different omponents or through application of energy from an external source. Specific qualitative and quantitative requirements for freedom from biological hazard are not included in this part of Draft Indian Standard, but it is recommended that reference be made to ISO 10993-1 and ISO 7405 when assessing possible biological or toxicological hazards.
This Indian Standard is published in two parts. The other parts in this series is:
Part 1 Powder/ liquid acid-base cements
The text of ISO Standard has been approved as suitable for publication as an Indian Standard without deviations. Certain conventions and terminologies are, however, not identical to those used in Indian Standards. Attention is particularly drawn to the following:
a) Wherever the words ‘International Standard’ appear referring to this standard, they should be read as ‘Indian Standard’.
b) Comma (,) has been used as a decimal marker, while in Indian Standards, the current practice is to use a point (.) as the decimal marker.
