IS/ISO/IEC 17040 : 2005 Conformity Assessment - General Requirements for Peer Assessment of Conformity Assessment Bodies and Accreditation Bodies
NATIONAL FOREWORD
This Indian Standard which is identical with lSO/lEC 17040:2005 ‘Conformity assessment — General requirements for peer assessment of conformity assessment bodies and accreditation bodies’ issued by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) and International Electrotechnical Commission (lEC) jointly was adopted by the Bureau of Indian Standards on the recommendations of the National Mirror Committee of CASCO and approval of the Director General, Bureau of Indian Standards under Rule 8(3)C of B/S Rules, 1987.
The text of lSO/lEC Standard has been approved as suitable for publication as an Indian Standard without deviations. Certain conventions are, however, not identical to those used in Indian Standards. Attention is particularly drawn to the following:
a) Wherever the words ‘International Standard’ appear referring to this standard, they should be read ‘as ‘Indian Standard’.
b) Comma (,) has been used as a decimal markerwhile in Indian Standards, the currentpracticeisto use a point(,) as the decimal marker.
