NATIONAL FOREWORD

This Indian Standard which was identical with ISO/IEC 80079-20-1 ‘Explosive atmospheres - Part 20-1: Material characteristics for gas and vapour classification - Test methods and data’ issued by the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) was adopted by the Bureau of Indian Standards on the recommendation of the Electrical Apparatus for Explosive Atmosphere Sectional Committee and approval of the Electrotechnical Division Council.

This Standard covers the requirement of Material characteristics for gas and vapour classification - Test methods and data which was previously covered in IS/IEC 60079-20-1 : 2010 identical to IEC 60079-20-1 : 2010.
