NATIONAL FOREWORD

This Indian Standard which is identical with ISO/IEC Guide 99 : 2007 ‘International vocabulary of metrology - Basic and general concepts and associated terms (VIM)’ issued by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) was adopted by the Bureau of Indian Standards on recommendation of the Engineering Metrology Sectional Committee and approval of the Production and General Engineering Division Council.

This standard supersedes IS 8378 : 1987 ‘Vocabulary for basic and general terms in dimensional metrology (first revision)’.
