NATIONAL FOREWORD

This Indian Standard which is identical with ISO/IEC TR 22678 : 2020 ‘Information technology — Cloud computing — Guidance for policy development’ issued by International Organization for Standardization (ISO) and International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) jointly was adopted by the Bureau of Indian Standards on the recommendations of Information Technology and Information Technology enabled Services Sectional Committee and approval of the Service Sector Division Council.

In recent years, the cloud computing has become a major industry throughout the world comprising of small, large data centres, telecommunications networks, etc, and operated by many different

cloud service providers. These cloud services can be simple email, productivity applications, social networks, big data processing, machine learning, and cognitive services. Cloud computing offers many benefits to cloud service customers, governments, and to society. With all commercial services, governments and enterprises are adopting policies to ensure that customer and governmental interests are protected.

This standard provides guidance to assist with the development of such policies concerning the deployment and use of cloud computing systems and services.

The text of ISO Standard has been approved as suitable for publication as an Indian Standard without deviations. Certain conventions are, however, not identical to those used in Indian Standards. Attention is particularly drawn to the following:

a) Wherever the words ‘International Standard’ appear referring to this standard, they should be read as ‘Indian Standard’.

b) Comma (,) has been used as a decimal marker while in Indian Standards, the current practice is to use a point (.) as the decimal marker.
