NATIONAL FOREWORD

This Indian Standard which is identical with ISO/IEC TR 11179-2 : 2019 ‘Information technology - Metadata registries (MDR) - Part 2 : Classification’ issued by International Organization for Standardization (ISO) and International Electro technical Commission (IEC) jointly was adopted by the Bureau of Indian Standards on the recommendations of the Data Management System Sectional Committee and approval of the Electronics and Information Technology Division Council.

This standard was originally published in 2018 as IS 16638 (Part 2) : 2018 and was identical to ISO/IEC 11179-2 : 2005.

The supersession of this Standard has been undertaken to align it with the latest version of ISO/IEC TR 11179-2 : 2019 under single numbering.
