IS/IEC 61196 : Part 8 : 2023 Coaxial Communication Cables - Part 8 Sectional Specification for Semi-Flexible Cables with Fluoropolymer Dielectric
NATIONAL FOREWORD
This Indian Standard (Part 8) (First Revision) which is identical to IEC 61196-8 : 2023 'Coaxial communication cables - Part 8: Sectional specification for semi-flexible cables with fluoropolymer dielectric' issued by the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) was adopted by the Bureau of Indian Standards on the recommendation of Wires, Cables, Waveguides and Accessories Sectional Committee and approval of the Electronics and Information Technology Division Council.
This standard was first published in 2022 and was identical to/IEC 61196-8 : 2012. This revision has been brought out to align it with the latest version of IEC 61196-8 : 2023.
This second edition cancels and replaces the first edition published in 2009. This edition constitutes a technical revision. This edition includes the following significant technical changes with respect to the previous edition:
Title changed to 'Coaxial communication cables - Part 8: Sectional specification for semi flexible cables with fluoropolymer dielectric';
a) Subclause 4.3: Other fluoropolymer (such as PFA, etc) dielectric materials added;
b) Subclause 4.4: The construction of the outer conductor can consist of two layers or three layers;
c) Subclause 5.2: Table 1 - 'Rated temperature' added;
d) Subclauses 5.3, 5.4 and 5.5: new requirements added;
e) Clause 7 completely revised;
f) Annexes A, B and C added.
The text of IEC standard has been approved as suitable for publication as an Indian Standard without deviations. Certain conventions are however, not identical to those used in Indian Standards. Attention is particularly drawn to the following:
