IS/ISO 14066 : 2023 Environmental Information - Competence Requirements for Teams Validating and Verifying Environmental Information
NATIONAL FOREWORD
The Indian Standard (First Revision) which is identical to ISO 14066 : 2023 'Environmental information - Competence requirements for teams validating and verifying environmental information' issued by the International Organization for Standardization was adopted by the Bureau of Indian Standards on the recommendation of the Environmental Management Sectional Committee and approval of the Environment and Ecology Division Council.
This standard was first published in 2014 by adopting ISO 14066 : 2011. This revision has been brought out to align it with ISO 14066 : 2023.
This standard specifies competence requirements for validation teams and verification teams for the benefit of GHG programme administrators, regulators and validation and verification bodies. The standard also provides guidance on methods for evaluating the competence of GHG validation teams and verification teams. ISO 14066 is GHG programme neutral.
The major changes in this revision as compared to the previous edition are as follows:
a) the scope has been extended from greenhouse gas to environmental information claims; and
b) annexes providing additional competence requirements for certain types of environmental information statements have been added.
The text of ISO standard has been approved as suitable for publication as an Indian Standard without deviations. Certain conventions are, however, not identical to those used in Indian Standards. Attention is particularly drawn to the following:
a) Wherever the words 'International Standard' appears referring to this standard, they should be read as 'Indian Standard'; and
b) Comma (,) has been used as a decimal marker, while in Indian Standards, the current practice is to use a point (.) as the decimal marker.
