IS/ISO 14284 : 2022 Steel and Iron - Sampling and Preparation of Samples for the Determination of Chemical Composition
NATIONAL FOREWORD
This Indian Standard (First Revision) which is identical to ISO 14284 : 2022 'Steel and iron - Sampling and preparation of samples for the determination of chemical composition' issued by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) was adopted by the Bureau of Indian Standards on the recommendation of the Wrought Steel Products Sectional Committee and approval of the Metallurgical Engineering Division Council.
This standard was first published in 1996. This revision has been brought out to align with the latest version ISO 14284 to harmonize it with the latest developments that have taken place at international level.
In this revision, following major changes have been incorporated:
a) Figures have been updated;
b) Clause 3 has been updated;
c) Text has been updated;
d) New sampling probes have been added; and
e) Units have been changed to SI units.
The text of ISO standard has been approved as suitable for publication as in Indian Standard without deviations. Certain terminologies and conventions are, however, not identical with those used in Indian Standard. Attention is especially drawn to the following:
a) Wherever the words 'International Standard' appear referring to this standard, it should be read as 'Indian Standard'; and
b) Comma (,) has been used as a decimal marker while in Indian Standards the current practice is to use a point (.) as the decimal marker.
